Restorative dentistry refers to a range of treatments and procedures designed to repair smiles that have been damaged by trauma or dental diseases such as tooth decay and gum disease. Dr. Cederbaum’s goal is to restore the original look of your smile and return it to its full function. Fillings, dental implants, and crowns are some of the restorative treatments we provide.
Fillings
Fillings are used to treat cavities by removing the decayed part of the tooth and replacing it with a substance that will restore the structure of the tooth and prevent future decay. Dr. Cederbaum features a number of options for treating tooth decay including attractive, tooth-colored fillings which are custom-designed to match your smile. For larger cavities, Dr. Cederbaum uses onlays, inlays, or amalgam fillings. When the damage is more extensive, Dr. Cederbaum may elect to use a dental crown to restore the damaged tooth.
Crowns and Bridges
A dental crown is a prosthetic cap attached to the top of a damaged tooth to restore function and protect it from further damage. A crown can be used to fix a tooth that’s cracked or broken due to dental trauma, a tooth that’s damaged by extensive decay, or to protect and repair a tooth following root canal therapy. A dental crown can also be used to support an implant bridge, which is a prosthetic replacement for a missing tooth. A dental bridge is secured by attaching it to dental crowns at each end of the gap.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are a revolutionary way to permanently restore one or more missing teeth in your smile. Dental implants are secured the same way your natural teeth are. That’s because they have a titanium base that naturally bonds with the bones in your jaw. You never need to remove your dental implants for cleaning or any other reason and they won’t come out or shift around when you’re eating.
